I’ve always loved using technology to make life easier — and my fascination with Excel started over 30 years ago when I discovered just how powerful spreadsheets could be. What began as a simple attempt to speed up weekly reports quickly turned into a passion for finding smarter, more efficient ways of working. Since then, I’ve built a corporate career across project management, reporting, data analysis and process improvement in both financial services and manufacturing, always using technology to boost productivity and communication.
After being made redundant during the COVID pandemic in 2020, I decided not to sit still and instead created a new path. I started working with small business owners and quickly realised that what I loved most was helping people feel confident with spreadsheets. Even a small amount of Excel knowledge can save time, reduce stress and make a huge difference to how a business runs.
Alongside Excel Confident, I also co-run a product-based business, which gives me first-hand experience of using spreadsheets in real-world business situations — from planning and processes to stock and finances. As both a service and product business owner, my goal is simple: to help other business owners see spreadsheets not as scary, but as one of the most valuable tools they can use.
